Cookie policy
We do not use advertising, analytics or third-party tracking cookies. This website sets no cookies. This policy explains what the app and the Web App store on your device to work offline.
01Storage on your device
To work without a signal, the app and the Web App store information on your device using technologies equivalent to cookies (local storage, IndexedDB and Android's and iOS's own storage). All of it is strictly necessary for the service you requested:
| What is stored | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Session token | Keeping you signed in without a signal | Until you sign out |
| Your profile, trips, records and notes | Using the app offline | Until you sign out or delete your account |
| Sync queue | Sending your changes when the signal returns | Until they sync |
| Photos and recordings waiting to upload | Uploading them when there is a connection | Until they are uploaded |
| Species catalogue, atlas stories and place-name origins | Browsing species pages, the map and stories offline | Refreshed when there are updates |
| Preferences (language, manually chosen trip stage, reminders, what “Around you” has already shown) | Remembering your choices | Until you change them |
Because it is essential for the service to work, it does not require consent. If we ever add a tool that does, we will ask you first.
02Sign in with Google
If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google's window may use its own cookies, as described in Google's cookie policy.
03How to delete this data
Signing out or deleting your account in the app erases everything stored on the device. You can also clear site data in your browser settings. Bear in mind that anything not yet synced would be lost.
